June 2000 Newsletter
The
Spanish Corner
By Ilse Reissner
We need your help! The Spanish book
"Open Mind, Open Heart" (Mente Abierta, Corazon Abierto) is running
out of print and the new translation is not ready to go to the printer at this
time. We are in great need of these books as it is too expensive to print small
quantities, and we are offering to buy your book for $5, or give you a 50%
discount on the new book when it is published (in approximately one year). If
you own or have a copy of this book that you are willing to let go of, you can
help the new Spanish-speaking people joining Contemplative Outreach. Please mail
it to Ilse Reissner at 284 Curlew Cir., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. Indicate if
you wish to receive a refund of $5 or a new book for $5.
 | The Spanish-speaking community in the Dominican Republic is planning a trip to
the Holy Land in 2002 with a translator for Fr. Carl Arico, who will be joining the group.
|
 | Our Spanish Ministry is spreading. Last year we visited El Salvador and Puerto Rico. A good number of participants to
the Introductory workshops have continued to meet regularly to pray, led by
local facilitators, Leila Membreno and Luisa Ason. During the year 2000 we have
been invited to offer a weekend Introductory at the Retreat Center in Dickinson,
Texas in March, another one in March in Puerto Rico, one in El Salvador in
August, and one in Milwaukee, in October. Other tentative visits are scheduled
for Peru, Panama, and Mexico. You can contact the coordinators or contact
persons in your chapter for details. If you are interested in offering one in
your area, please contact Ilse Reissner.
|
 | This is the third newsletter that
will be published in Spanish. Fr. Keating's article and Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler's
"Letter from the Executive Director" are translated, and any other
article that may be of interest to the Spanish-speaking community. (Then we add
our own page with news of interest to the Spanish-speaking.) If you would like
to have someone's name added to our mailing list, please let Ilse Reissner know
(407-767-7567).
|
 | Last, but not least, we are already
planning our next Hispanic International Conference in Florida, since our last
one in 1999 was such a success. Fr. Keating will be present.
